From the Essex Police

Police seek 'Burglar Bill lookalike' robbery suspect

The man, who was caught on security camera wearing a stripey top similar to the one worn by the character in the books by children’s authors Allan and Janet Ahlberg, is wanted by police for questioning over the theft of a bank card.

The man is suspected of robbing another man at knifepoint in West Horndon, Essex, before using a stolen bank card to withdraw cash in a nearby shopping centre.
One police source said: 'This chap has an uncanny resemblance to Burglar Bill, so we are hoping that it won't be long before someone recognises him and turns him in.'
The suspect, who was wearing grey tracksuit bottoms and a grey-and-white striped top, is described as about 5ft 10in, aged between 30 and 40.
Investigating officer, DC Sharon Persad, said: 'We have circulated the man's picture to other forces but he does not appear to be on national criminal records.
